Explanation of May 3, 2013, B&R Changes

Modern tournaments have recently been diverse, with no dominant deck. However, large tournaments have had a problem with the Eggs deck, causing rounds to take significantly longer.

The deck uses Second Sunrise and Faith's Reward to get back cards that generate mana, such as Lotus Bloom, and various artifacts that draw a card. A common choice to win the game is Pyrite Spellbomb. However, the way the player gets to the point of forcing a win might involve casting Second Sunrise so many times that the entire library is drawn, and only cards put back with Conjurer's Bauble are left. A single turn might take fifteen minutes or more.

In a large tournament, such as a Grand Prix, when time for the round expires, players are given five additional turns to complete their game. Usually, this takes a few minutes to conclude the rest of the games. However, a player playing Eggs might have a fifteen-minute turn during the additional turns, delaying the start of the next round by ten minutes or more (beyond the next-longest match). Over the course of a day, this can mean an extra hour of waiting for everyone else in the tournament.

The DCI considered which card to ban to deal with this issue. We decided to try and do the narrowest possible ban: one that would reduce the chance of such long turns without banning a card used in other decks. That is why Second Sunrise is banned in Modern.

Regrowth was restricted in 1994. Since then, alternatives such as Yawgmoth's Will and Snapcaster Mage have been printed, and Regrowth has seen little play. It is not clear what new decks are feasible with Regrowth unrestricted, but the DCI's best judgment is that, after nineteen years, it is time to find out. So Regrowth is unrestricted in Vintage.

Certo, banniamo uno degli ultimi due combo rimasti, almeno ai tornei ci saranno solo mazzi belli come jund e pod perchè controllo avrà solo matchup negativi, brava wizard brava

Ma per fortuna che lo hanno bannato anche online quando ci giochi contro , anche de non hai certezza di aver perso dopo che la Combi inizia concedi per non perdere troppo tempo.

Per fortuna mi son liberato di quei sassi un paio di mesi fa. Erano a fare la muffa nel raccoglitore da Mirrodin.

che poi controllo in modern non h un buon matchup da eggs, tipo al torneo vinto da cifka contro monoblu:

- silence > passa > hai perso

vabbeh, fortuna che avevo comprato tutto eggs solo a 50 cucuzze... pd

Seguendo la stessa ratio allora dovremmo bannare High Tide in legacy??

Meno male che vogliono fare un formato bello. Fa sempre più cagare!!!

Regrowth dopo la stampa di snapcaster non aveva senso che restasse bannata, soprattutto in un meta dove una sola sfera rende regrowth una carta brutta (di suo, è anche un chiodo in prima mano). Adesso manca da sbannare ponder.
Eggs era semplicemente fastidioso e non aveva senso restasse in modern dopo il ban di storm.

imho il vero problema di eggs è che essendo low cost era un mazzo a cui puntavano tutti quelli con pochi soldi e zero carte (leggasi noobs del magic). Morale non sanno come funziona nel dettaglio il mazzo, quando fare le cose, tener il conto di mana/spell/quello-che-ti-serve-per-chiudere e vanno ai turni sistematicamente.

Io lo giocavo dal ban di storm e sinceramente non son mai andato ai turni e ti assicuro che ai ptq nessuno concede devi star lì a pescare fino all'ultima benedetta carta; comunque bastava uno slot per chiudere di storm e evitavi di doverti pescare il mazzo.

Se volevano evitare che eggs chiudesse così bastava bannare ninnolo

A me l'idea che vogliano un formato pro-bimbominkia (dove tradi solo creature, i counter non si sa cosa siano e se stai a 15 di vita nessuno ti uccide nel prossimo turno) non la toglie nessuno...
